holistic healing service

I was born and raised in Kyoto, Japan. My love of art led me to pursue a career in art therapy, which uses the creative process of art making to improve and enhance the physical, mental and emotional well-being of individuals. I use art therapy to validate clients’ strengths and skills, and also as a safe approach for clients to explore a broad spectrum of issues and struggles.

I have been working in the therapeutic field for most of my adult life, starting out volunteering at a YWCA in Evanston, IL working with abused women and children.  For the past 6 years I have worked for Apna Ghar to facilitate family art therapy groups for immigrant survivors of gender violence.  I have extensive experience in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry, creating and facilitating art therapy for both individuals and groups of adults with mental illness to inspire growth through a process of self-expression, and ultimately to foster independence.  Currently I am working with individuals who are Medicare and Medicaid recipients, helping them understand, access and adhere to comprehensive health care regimens.

I completed my MA in counseling, specialized in Art Therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in 2007. I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist.
